Download every photo of a carousel
A carousel is a post with up to twenty slides that you swipe through. Each slide appears with its own type (photo or video) and its own download button, so you can save just the one you need. Download all saves the slides one after another, named in order (name_code_1.jpg, name_code_2.jpg, …). Video slides are saved as MP4 — the video downloader has more about those.
Instagram photo size and format
Instagram resizes photos when they are uploaded, usually to at most 1080 pixels wide, and stores them as JPEG. For a single photo the result card shows the width and height of the file you will get. We can’t make a photo larger or sharper than the copy Instagram keeps.
How to download Instagram photos
- In Instagram, tap Share (or ⋯) on the post and choose Copy link.
- Tap Paste here. The search starts on its own.
- Tap Download on a photo, or Download all for every slide of a carousel.
Where downloaded photos are saved
iPhone and iPad
Safari shows a download arrow in the address bar. The file is in the Files app under Downloads; open it there and tap Share → Save Image (Save Video for a video slide) to put it in Photos.
Android
Chrome says when the download is complete. The file is in the Downloads folder of the Files app, and gallery apps usually list it in a Download album.
Computer
The file goes to your browser’s download folder, named after the account and the post, for example natgeo_C9x2AbCdEfG.jpg; carousel slides end in _1, _2, ….

You get the largest copy Instagram provides, usually up to 1080 px wide. Instagram resizes photos when they are uploaded.

Can I download from a private account?
This page is made for posts their owners made public. A post from a private account normally shows a message instead of the photo.
Can I download Instagram photos on iPhone?
Yes, in Safari. The photo goes to the Files app under Downloads; open it, tap Share, then Save Image to add it to Photos.
Where do the photos go on Android?
Into the Downloads folder. Gallery apps and Google Photos usually show it as an album called Download.
Do I need to log in or give my Instagram password?
No. We never ask for it, and your Instagram account is never used: the lookups run on the service’s own connection to Instagram.
