The reel, its downloads and its cover appear here.

Instagram Reels vs. feed videos

A reel is a vertical video made for the Reels tab, usually with music or an original sound. On Instagram’s side it is still a post with a link of its own, so saving it works the same way as any Instagram video: paste the link, get the MP4 file Instagram serves. The result shows the reel’s author, its counts and its caption, the way Instagram returns them.

How to copy an Instagram Reel link

In the Reels tab, tap the paper-plane icon under the reel, then Copy link. On the website, the link in the address bar works too. Links to a reel opened from someone’s profile (instagram.com/name/reel/…) are fine, and the tracking tail Instagram adds is removed automatically.

Download a reel’s cover image

Every reel has a cover: the still image shown on the profile grid. The result card has a separate Download cover button for it, next to the video download.

After you save it

The file is named after the creator and the reel’s code, for example natgeo_DQreel123.mp4, so it is easy to find again. On a phone it lands in the downloads folder; the section below says where that is on iPhone and Android. A reel is its creator’s work: keep it for yourself, and ask before you post it anywhere else.

What this Reels downloader doesn’t do

This page saves the reel as it was published. It doesn’t offer audio-only or MP3 files, it doesn’t extract songs, and it doesn’t trim or edit the video.

How to download Instagram Reels

  1. In the Reels tab, tap the paper-plane icon and choose Copy link.
  2. Tap Paste here. The search starts on its own.
  3. Tap Download for the video, or Download cover for the cover image.

Where downloaded reels are saved

iPhone and iPad

Safari shows a download arrow in the address bar. The file is in the Files app under Downloads; open it there and tap Share → Save Video to put it in Photos.

Android

Chrome says when the download is complete. The file is in the Downloads folder of the Files app, and gallery apps usually list it in a Download album.

Computer

The file goes to your browser’s download folder, named after the account and the reel, for example natgeo_DQreel123.mp4; its cover is a separate file, natgeo_DQreel123_cover.jpg.

Instagram Reels downloader: questions and answers

Does the saved Reel keep its sound?

The file includes the audio Instagram publishes with the reel.

Can I download only the music or audio?

No. We don’t offer audio-only downloads.

Can I save the cover image?

Yes. The result card has a separate “Download cover” button.

Why does my reel look blurry?

Instagram sometimes stores a lower resolution. We deliver the largest version it has, without changing it.

The link I copied has ?igsh= at the end. Is that a problem?

No. Tracking parameters are removed automatically.

Can I save a reel from a private account?

This page is made for reels their owners made public. A reel from a private account normally shows a message instead of the video.

Can I download Instagram Reels on iPhone?

Yes, in Safari. The reel goes to the Files app under Downloads; open it there, tap Share, then Save Video to put it in Photos.

Can I download Instagram Reels on Android?

Yes. Paste the reel link in Chrome or another browser and tap Download; the MP4 goes to your Downloads folder.

Do you add a watermark or logo to the reel?

No. You get the file Instagram serves, unchanged; nothing is added to it.

Do I need to log in or give my Instagram password?

No. We never ask for it, and your Instagram account is never used: the lookups run on the service’s own connection to Instagram.

Get the same data from the Instagram API

Behind the lookups on this page are calls to our REST API — GET /api/media?url=<reel link> and GET /api/feed/:username — which return the same data as JSON. Send your key in the X-API-Key header.
