Download Instagram videos without changing them
This page saves the video of a public Instagram post. Paste the post’s link and you get the file Instagram serves for it, as MP4. We don’t re-encode it, add a watermark or change it in any way: the bytes come from Instagram and are passed straight to your browser.
It is made for posts their owners made public. A deleted post shows a clear message instead of a video, and a post from a private account normally does too.
Which Instagram links work
Copy the link from the Instagram app or website and paste it as it is. These all work:
- post links:
instagram.com/p/… - reel links:
instagram.com/reel/…(also/reels/…) - IGTV links:
instagram.com/tv/… - links with a tracking tail such as
?igsh=…or?utm_source=…— it is removed for you m.instagram.com,www.instagram.comandinstagr.amlinks, with or withouthttps://
Short /s/… share links of posts can’t be read here: open one in Instagram first, then copy the post’s own link. (A highlight’s /s/… link works.)
Download one video from a carousel
When a post has several slides, each slide is shown with its type (photo or video) and its own download button, so you can pick only the video. Download all saves every slide, one after another. For photos and mixed carousels see the photo and carousel downloader; for reels, the Reels downloader explains the differences.
How to download Instagram videos
- In Instagram, tap Share (or ⋯) on the post and choose Copy link.
- Tap Paste here (or paste into the box). The search starts on its own.
- Tap Download under the video. In a carousel every slide has its own button, plus Download all.
Where downloaded Instagram videos are saved
iPhone and iPad
Safari shows a download arrow in the address bar. The file is in the Files app under Downloads; open it there and tap Share → Save Video to put it in Photos.
Android
Chrome says when the download is complete. The file is in the Downloads folder of the Files app, and gallery apps usually list it in a Download album.
Computer
The file goes to your browser’s download folder, named after the account and the post, for example natgeo_C9x2AbCdEfG.mp4; a video from a carousel ends in its slide number, such as _2.
Instagram video downloader: questions and answers
Do I need to log in or give my Instagram password?
No. We never ask for it, and your Instagram account is never used: the lookups run on the service’s own connection to Instagram.
Can I save videos from private accounts?
This page is made for posts their owners made public. A post from a private account normally shows a message instead of the video.
What quality will I get?
The largest version Instagram provides for that post. We don’t compress or upscale it, so a video that was uploaded in low resolution stays low resolution.
How do I download an Instagram video on iPhone?
Open this page in Safari, paste the post link and tap Download, then tap the download arrow in the address bar. The video is in the Files app under Downloads; open it, tap Share, then Save Video to add it to Photos.
Is this Instagram video downloader free?
Yes. There is nothing to pay and nothing to sign up for. Requests can be limited so the service stays usable for everyone; when that happens, the message says how long to wait.
Is it legal to download Instagram videos?
It depends on where you live and on what you do with the file. The video belongs to its creator: keep it for personal use and ask before you repost or reuse it. This is not legal advice — see Legal.
Do you keep a history of the links I paste?
Each lookup is logged (the time, the link and the result) to run the limits and keep the service healthy, and the log files are deleted after about two weeks. Statistics about the service’s own Instagram accounts can name a lookup that caused an event, and they are kept longer. The files you download are not stored. The details are under Privacy.
Why does it say the link expired?
Instagram’s file links only work for a limited time. Run the search again (the Refresh results button does it) to get fresh ones.
Which links can I paste?
Links to a post, reel or IGTV video, a profile, a story or a highlight, from instagram.com, m.instagram.com or instagr.am. You can also type a username or @username. Short /s/ share links of posts have to be opened in Instagram first; a highlight’s /s/ link works as it is.
Why does it say the post or account was not found?
Instagram did not return it: the post was deleted, the account was renamed or removed, or the post belongs to a private account. Check the link in Instagram.
Why does it say “busy” or “try again in N seconds”?
Every lookup is a request to Instagram, and the service limits how many it sends. When a limit is reached the message says how long to wait; after that the same search works again.

Get the same data from the Instagram API
Behind the lookups on this page are calls to our REST API — GET /api/media?url=<post link> and GET /api/feed/:username — which return the same data as JSON. Send your key in the X-API-Key header.
